Take your tuff tray & stand outside and flip the tuff tray upside down and then place the stand in the tray! Then wrap your stand in plastic wrap to create a multi faced easel so children can create & collaborate. Pour your washable paint on plates and then add paint brushes to your palettes, then invite children to paint!






Fill the Frames with Art
What will your aspiring artists create to display in this art installation? This process art inspired tray allows for children to explore open ended creation with different art mediums since as watercolour paint, tempera paint sticks and crayons!
Cut a piece of craft paper to fit the bottom of the active world tray and secure with tape. Take a black marker and draw frames of different shapes and sizes all over the tray. Once you have your canvas for creation place different art materials for children to create with on the tray. When ready invite your little artists to create!

Inviting children to be inspired by and observe abstract art is a wonderful way to introduce arts & culture to them while working on important early learning concepts! Kandinsky's art is perfect for introducing to children as they are naturally inspired by shapes and colours.
Kadinsky is a great artist to introduce children to as an abstract artist lends itself to process art and loose parts play! Abstract artists and their art are more up children’s alley as they used techniques that children themselves can try to emulate. This can make for a great starting point to introduce Kandinsky to children because of their inherent attraction to bold colours and increasing engagement with shapes.✨

Process Art Paint Mix Butterflies
This fun and easy process art activity allow children to explore colour mixing, paint patterns and creates a beautiful & unique butterfly each time!
All you need:
-Thick card stock
-Washable Tempera Paint
-Scissors
Step One: Fold your sheet of cardstock in half and then draw the shape of half a butterfly along the folded edge! When ready, cut out the shape of your butterfly.
Step Two: Take washable tempera paint and on half of your butterfly add any colour in any design you want and fold it into the blank side and flatten the paper to spread the paint.
Step Three: When ready, open your butterfly to reveal its unique colouring and design!






Paint Marbling
This process art activity is fun, easy and has a unique result everytime! Children can explore mixing colours and textures while rolling the imprinted sensory painting balls all over the paper!
Simply cut sheets of paper to the size of the bottom of the PlayTray. Tape the paper to the bottom!Then in the PlayTray compartments add washable tempera paint to dip the painting balls in! Encourage children cover the balls in paint and place them in the PlayTray then begin rolling it around to create unique colour patterns and textures.
For additional unique results you can unscrew each ball and exchange the pieces between them!
Water Painting

Take your little learners outside on a nature walk and collect dandelions! Once you have collected enough dandelions for everyone, offer tempera paint on a paper plate and dip your dandelions in the paint and stamp them on the paper!

Mixed Media Ice Painting

Go on a scavenger hunt through your house and looks for jars or containers that have lids with a flat top that is pushed out! Then pour all your colours of washable paint on a paper plate. Then using a paint brush paint your lids - you can use different patterns, colour combinations, and more!
Once your lids are painted, take them and stamp them on the paper. Watch how the colours blend and the unique prints you create!

Take a circular object and trace it on paper to create the shell for your snail and cut it out! Using tape secure your snail shell to the bottom of the salad spinner and then pour paint of all colours over the shell. Spin, spin, spin! Then reveal your shell.
On a piece of construction paper draw the body of your snail and cut it out! Cut an additional strip and cut it in half and attach to the head and choose large googly eyes to attach! Then using white glue attach your snail shell to the body to create your unique and colourful snail.




Liquid Watercolour Coffee Filter Painting on the Light Panel
This is such a fun and easy process art activity that will have children exploring their creative side as they mix colours and create unique tie dyed coffee filters and see their watercolours come to life through the light panel.
Simply place your light panel cover over your light panel and lay coffee filters on it. Pour your liquid watercolours in paint pots and add pipettes and begin dropping paint all over them.
Stained Glass Washable Window Process Art
This is an exciting and fun way to allow your children to explore art, colour, creativity and give your ideas windows a little extra fun.
All you need is:
-Washable Paint
-Paint Brushes
-Mavalus Tape
-Dish Soap
-Take Mavalus tape and begin to create your design on the window (I chose to emulate a stained glass window).
-Once complete pour the paint in paint pots and mix an equal amount of paint and dishsoap in the container and mix!
-Lay down a tarp in front of the window, set up your paint and start to create
-Once your paint is semi dry peel back the paint to discover your design!
Also yes, the paint does wash off I tested it a bunch of times and there is a video of it wiping off.

Lay out your bubble wrap on an art tray and then paint any colourful design of your choice on the bubble wrap Then lay the bubble wrap on paper and gently press it into the paper then peel to reveal your design!!!


Bug Paint Prints
This is such a fun and easy spring bugs inspired process art!
All you need:
-Insect Counters
-Stretched Canvas
-Washable Tempera Paint
Have children observe the bugs! What do they notice? How many legs do the bugs have? Do they have wings? Then dip them in paint and then on the canvas to take an imprint of their shape.
After it dries you can try and match the imprints or talk about what you notice!
Car Track Mark Making
This is a fun and easy activity for children to explore mark making and build fine motor skills!
In your tuff tray cut a large sheet of paper to fit the bottom and secure it with tape. Then take each of your cars and secure a marker to the back with tape, angle it enough so the tip of the marker reaches the paper. Then encourage children to pick a car and begin creating their tracks!

Process Art Aluminum Foil Watercolour Prints
This is such a fun, easy and colourful process art print making invitation!
All you need:
-Card stock Paper
-Aluminum Foil
-Permanent Markers
-Washable Markers
-Spray Bottle with Water
Take your card stock paper and invite children to use permanent markers to draw your picture. Once they have their picture rip off a sheet of aluminum foil and colour all over it with washable markers and then gently spray it with water! Then take your picture and press it gently on the aluminum foil and smooth it over. Once ready pull the picture back to reveal your watercolour print!


This is such a fun and easy process art activity that allows children to explore creating their own paint and mark making.
Go on a nature walk in your community and collect dandelions. Then place your dandelions in a container and using either a pestle and mortar or a rock crush your dandelions! You want to see loose petals and dander gently coming out. Then pour a quarter cup of boiling water in with your dandelions and wait! Watch as the water continues to change and grow more yellow naturally dyed by your dandelions! Then using a sieve filter put your dandelions so you are left with your dyed watercolour then paint away!
Children will love exploring mark making and painting!


Fizz Painting STEM Process Art
This activity is a great way to incorporate stem learning and creativity!
All you need:
-Baking Soda
-White vinegar
-Washable Watercolor Paint or Food Colouring
-Watercolour paper
-Spray bottle or pipettes
Step one: Place your watercolour paper on a tray.
Step Two: In seperate paint cups place one scoop of baking soda and drop liquid watercolour paint in the baking soda and mix. Add drops untill it reaches your desired colour and allow to dry!
Step Three: Shake the coloured baking soda over your paper!
Step Four: Pour white vinegar in a seperate paint cup and using either a spray bottle or pipettes drop vinegar on the paper and watch them fizz!
Step Five: Leave to dry and then enjoy!
Light Panel Flowing Watercolours
This is such a fun way to explore colour, open ended creativity and water play on the light panel!
To set up your invitation plug in your light panel and add your cover. Then add a small amount of liquid watercolor paint to your no spill paint cups and pour a small amount of water in and mix to gently dilute the colours! Then add pipettes and encourage children to begin pouring colours on the light panel. Watch how the colours flow into one another! What kind of colours are you seeing being created? What do you notice with the different amount of paint you add and with what techniques you use?




Q-Tip Painting Process Art
This is such a fun, easy and colourful way to explore process art, colour mixing and creating unique patterns as children build fine motor skills!
Simply cut a sheet or paper to the size of the bottom of the tuff tray and secure it with tape! Pour paint all over the paper and add q-tips either loose or taped together in different patterns for mark making and then invite children to create.
Process Art Butterflies
Can your little artists design their own beautiful and unique butterflies? This is such a fun and easy spring themed process art invitation!
Go online and grab a free printable butterfly outline and print off copies for your little artists and place them in a tuff tray! Offer art materials for children to access to create their butterflies. Then add the sensory play butterfly stones and book Whose Wings to inspire your little artists! Children can use magnifying glasses to study the butterflies up close so they can compare and notice their wing shapes and details, and explore how they are similar to butterflies locally. Your little artists can recreate the butterflies they are observing or create their own!


Frozen Chalk Paint
This is a great way to beat the heat and explore colour and painting in a new way outside!
What you need:
-Sidewalk Chalk
-Cornstarch
-Water
-Popsicle Sticks
-Ice Cube Tray
Step One: Take half a piece of sidewalk chalk and place it in a ziplock bag. Place the bag on a cutting board or solid surface and take a hammer or mallet and smash the chalk into dust!
Step Two: Pour chalk dust into the ice cube tray and measure 1 tablespoon of cornstarch and 2 tablespoons of water and mix! Place Popsicle sticks in your mixture.
Step Three: Place in the freezer and wait till frozen. Once completely frozen take out of the freezer and pour hot water on the back of the ice cube tray to slightly melt the paint so you can release it from the tray!
Step Four: Go outside and enjoy! Mix colours, paint different surfaces and explore!

Step One: Place the paper in the tray and set out paint cups with liquid watercolour in them around the tray and place pipettes and straws off to the side!
Step Two: Encourage children to use the pippettes to splash liquid watercolor paint one the paper and with a straw blow onto the paint splashes and watch as they spread and bleed into each other.
Step Three: Watch as the colours bleed into each other! Do they create new colours? What do the the patterns look like?
Pendulum Painting Process Art
This is such a fun and easy process art activity that allows children to explore mark making and collaborative art.
Cut a piece of paper and secure it to the bottom of your tuff tray! Then collect multiple sticks and tie yarn to your stick and the other end to a paint brush. Pour liquid watercolour paint into paint pots and place them on the edges of the tray! Then pick up your stick with a paint brush attach, dip it in paint and begin exploring painting in different patterns as you maneuver the paint!




Leaf Print Butterflies
This activity is a fun way to use your leaf nature finds to make some creative art you can keep to remember the season all year round! All you need is a bristol board, washable tempera paint, leaves and flat paint brushes.
All you need:
-Washable Tempera Paint
-Bristol Board
-Flat paint brushes
Place your leaves in a tray and pour out washable tempera paint of all colours. On your bristol board draw the body of a butterfly. Then paint one of your leaves on the textured side until the leaf is covered in an even layer of paint. Place it paint side down on your butterfly body to resemble a wing and gently tap the leaf to press the paint into the bristol board. Remove the leaf and see its imprint!

Step one: Place your paper on a tray and cut your tissue paper into different shapes and sizes!
Step Two: Take your tissue paper shapes and place them all over the page! Overlapping, in patterns, in a design, whatever you like!
Step Three: Using a pipette place a drop of water on each tissue paper piece to secure it to the paper. Once they are all secure take a spray bottle filled with water spray the paper and each tissue paper piece.
Step Four: Wait and watch to see the colours bleed and create unique art! Once your piece is dry, peel off the tissue paper squares and see the design!


Cardboard Roll Scribblers Process Art
This is such a fun, easy and colourful way to explore process art, mark making and creating unique patterns as children build fine motor skills.
Simply cut a sheet of paper to the size of the bottom of the tuff tray or slide in the tuff tray paper and secure it with tape! Take cardboard rolls and assorted art materials like markers, crayons and pencil crayons and tape them to the cardboard rolls either equidistant apart or in different patterns to create unique marks.

All you need:
-Coffee Filters
-Pipettes
-Pipe Cleaners
-Liquid Watercolour Paint
Take a coffee filter and gently flatten it out on a tray! Pour liquid watercolour paint in paint pots and add your pipettes to the paint. Begin using the pipettes to cover the coffee filters with paint, you can create designs, mix colours or splatter art! Then allow your coffee filter to fully dry. Once dry, fold your coffee filter in half, and in half again. Then gently twist the bottom and then take a pipe cleaner to act as your stem and twist it arond the end. Once your stem is created trim it to fit in your vase!
Then you will have a unique and colourful spring boquet of watercolour flowers.

This is the perfect easy process art invitation for a sunny day that gets your little learners outside and creative.
Take your mirrored tray outdoors on a blue sky day and find a perfect spot with lots of clouds! Then pour white and blue tempera paint on the tray to help create your sky. Then attach your Pom Poms to clothespins and dip it in the white paint and invite children to make fluffy clouds! You can then dip your paint brush in the blue paint and paint the sky for your clouds!

Cherry Blossoms actually have an important significance in Lunar New Year Traditions! Cherry blossoms represent new beginnings and a renewal of life. And because they have long branches, they also represent longevity.
This easy process art co-created inspired activity is a great opportunity to collaborate and be creative but also celebrate Lunar New Year!
Cut a large sheet paper to the size of the bottom of your tuff tray and secure it with tape! Using brown paint, paint the shape of your tree. Then mix red and white paint together to form pink for your blossoms. To create blossom shapes secure a pom pom to a clothespin and gently dip it in the paint and begin dabbing along your branches! Repeat with white paint! Then add small white and pink pom poms to represent blossom buds and the beginning of renewal. Gently scrunch pink tissue paper to create 3D blossoms and dip them in glue and place them along your branches!

Take a coffee filter and gently flatten it out on a tray! Pour liquid watercolour paint in paint pots and add your pipettes to the paint. Begin using the pipettes to cover the coffee filters with paint, you can create designs, mix colours or splatter art! Then leave your coffee filters to dry. Once dry, begin folding your coffee filter back and forth to create your butterfly wings. Once fully folded pinch the middle and grab a pipe cleaner and create an overlapping half circle and place the wings in the middle. Then gently twist the bottom and twist the top to form the body, add beads on the top part of the body and gently bend the pipe cleaners to form antenna. Take your coffee filter on either side and gently spread the coffee filter to act as wings!
Soon you will have an entire flock of unique and colourful butterflies!

Take your tuff tray outside and lay out paper on each side! Then place bowls with liquid watercolour paint in the middle. To make your sun catcher pour washable school glue in a circular lid until it is half full! When ready choose your colours and dot liquid watercolour paint around the lid. When ready, take a popsicle stick and begin mixing the colours around the lid! Leave to dry until solid. When dry, pop the suncatcher out of the lid and then punch a hole in the top with a hole punch and thread yarn!
Find a sunny window and or take it outdoors and explore the reflections.




Painting with Water
This is such a fun and easy process art activity that is no prep and perfect for a hot day! All you need is water and painting tools.
Fill your PlayTray with water and then on the lid add your compartments and fill them with all kinds of painting tools like foam rollers, spray bottles, droppers, paint brushes etc. Then take your materials out to your driveway or a sidewalk and invite children to create!
Fizzy Painting
This is a fun and easy kitchen science experiment and process art activity that will have your kids highly engaged as they observe the reaction and explore colourful opportunities to create!
To get started, add 1/4 cup of water to containers and then mix in liquid watercolour paint. Then scoop 1/4 cup baking soda in a paint pot. Pour white vinegar in a paint pot and add pipettes! When ready pour your liquid watercolour mixture in your baking soda and mix until no longer clumpy. Then paint your watercolour paper with different designs and begin dropping vinegar on it and watch it fizz!

Dinosaur Process Art Tray

This activity is a great way to explore nature and creativity!
All you need is:
-Nature treasures from a nature walk
-Liquid Watercolour Paint
-Easel paper roll
-Paint Spritzers or spray bottles
Step One: Roll out Easel Paper and place your flowers, leaves, sticks, and whatever other treasures you have on your easel paper!
Step Two: Fill your spray bottles with liquid watercolour paint and spray your nature items and around them on your paper
Step Three: Remove your nature pieces and reveal their painted silhouettes!






Fork Paint Dandelions
This is such a fun and easy process art activity to celebrate signs of spring. All you need is forks, washable tempera paint and a sheet of paper!
Pour green and yellow washable tempera paint on a paper plate and add plastic forks! Then lay out a sheet of paper and encourage your little artists to take the fork with green paint and stamp it along the bottom of the paper to create grass. Take a paint brush and paint stems of different lengths all throughout the grass. Invite your little artists to take the fork covered in yellow paint and then press the paint all around the stem to form your dandelion!
Nature Frame
This activity is a fun way to create and frame the nature and beauty of your own outdoor community!
Simply cut a frame out of recycled cardboard and on the reverse of the frame add strips of clear tape to be the sticky part of your frame! Then go explore your local community, park, forest trail or backyard for interesting nature finds to add to your sticky frame! Create a beautiful nature inspired capture frame!
To extend the play you could create frames with nature finds of one colour or have a stick in the middle and create a symmetrical design.




Process Art Colour Diffusing Flowers
This is such a fun and colourful spring themed process art that will ensure a bouquet of beautiful and unique flowers.
All you need:
-Liquid Watercolour Paint
-Colour Diffusing Flowers
-Sensory Play Flower Stones
-Primary Sceince Jumbo Droppers
-Mirrored Magnetic Sensory Circle
Take your mirrored magnetic sensory circle outside and spread all your colour diffusing flowers on the tray with some flowers for inspiration! Then pour your liquid watercolour paint into paint pots and add pipettes and then invite children to begin dropping and splattering paint to create unique blooms!
Once they dry you can use them to decorate your windows, for light panel play or as loose parts!
Car Track Painting Process Art
Can you create rainbow road track with your cars in the paint? This is a fun process art and messy play invitation that allows children to explore mark making, colour mixing, and observe textures as they paint.
To set up this invitation simply cut a large piece of paper to fit the bottom of your tuff tray and attach it! Once ready, pour paint of all colours over the tray and then offers different cars with unique treads and invite children to begin painting and creating roads.

Simply tape a piece of cardstock to your playtray lid. Then find a cardbox destined for recycling and cut out rectangles of all sizes. Then invite children to drip paint in all kinds of lines, patterns and designs on your page. Once ready take your cradboard and gently scrape across the paper to reveal your design!
Feather Painting Process Art
This is such a fun and easy process art activity that takes under 5 minutes to set up but will have children exploring colours, texture and open ended creation SO joyfully!
In a tuff tray cut out art roll and secure it to the bottom of your tray, then pour washable tempera paint of all colours all around the tray! Pour your feathers of all shapes and colours in the middle of the tray then invite children to paint and create.

All You Need:
-Leaves
-Watercolour paints
-A white crayon
-A thick piece of paper
Step One: Go on a nature walk or collect leaves that have fallen in your yard! Make sure to look for leaves of different shapes, sizes and textures.
Step Two: Place your leaves underneath a sheet of paper and take a white crayon and on the long flat part rub it against your leaf to make an impression!
Step Three: Using watercolour paints, paint over your leaf impressions to see the design appear!
Multi-Sensory Process Art: Spice Painting
Need the easiest multi sensory process art activity inspired by fall? This is the perfect activity to experience all the joy of fall scents as you create.
All you need:
-Fall spices
-White tempera paint

Pour white temepra paint in your paint pots and then mix in your individual fall spices! I used cinnamon, nutmeg, all spice and cloves. then gently mix them and begin painting!

Place your leaves in a tray and pour out washable tempera paint of all colours. Once ready paint one of your leaves on the front side (not as veiny side) until the leaf is covered in an even layer of paint. Once ready, place it paint side down on your canvas and gently tap the leaf to press the paint into the canvas. Remove the leaf and see its imprint!
Experiment by mixing colours on leaves or doing single colours to create a unique fall canvas!




Evergreen Painting
This activity is a fun nature inspired way to make a unique art piece. It allows children to explore paint mixing, textures and sensory art!
Go on a nature walk and explore you local community! Notice the evergreen trees in your area have any branches fallen? If so pick them up! What do they smell like? What is their texture? Let’s explore!
Take a canvas or thick piece of paper and place it on a tray, add washable tempera paint to a paper plate and place your evergreen branches in the paint and begin stamping and painting with them!
This is a great way to explore sensory & process art.
Fill the Vases with Bouquets of Flowers
What will your aspiring artists create to display in this art installation? This process art inspired tray allows for children to explore open ended creation with different art mediums since as watercolour paint, tempera paint sticks and crayons!
Cut a piece of craft paper to fit the bottom of the active world tray and secure with tape. Take a black marker and draw flower vases of different shapes and sizes all over the tray. Then place different art materials for children to create with on the tray. When ready, invite your little artists to create!
Will they be inspired by the flower stones? Will you offer real life flowers for them to study and draw? Maybe ask them to do bouquets of their favourite flowers!




Paint Pouring Art Funnels
This process art activity is a fun way to explore motion, patterns and colour mixing! Every creation will be totally a unique masterpiece!
Take a canvas a place it on a tray, place a funnel in the middle of the canvas upright and pour in paint (best is washable tempera paint mixed with a teaspoon of water) and when ready lift your funnel and begin moving it around the canvas to create unique patterns! With each added colour start in a different place on the canvas and try a different pattern!
Leave to dry overnight and observe the colours, patterns and marks your paint made.
Mess Free Primary Paint Mixing
This is such a fun and easy way to explore primary colours and mixing secondary colours!
On a piece of paper pour dots of different sizes of yellow, blue and red then lay a sheet of plastic wrap over it and tape it down! Then invite children to mix with their hands and explore.




Process Art Negative Space Nature Spray
This is such a fun and easy nature inspired process art activity that will be colourful and create a unique piece each time. Go on a nature walk in your local community or backyard with children and collect all kinds of unique and different nature finds!
Then place sheets of paper and place them on all sides of your tuff tray! Pour liquid watercolour paint in small spray bottles and then gently add water to fill them up. Gently tape your nature finds to the paper and then take your spray bottles and gently spray your nature finds and then wait for them to fully dry. Once dry, remove the nature finds to reveal the negative space and imprint of the nature finds.


Let’s design some new planets for our solar system
This activity is SO fun and easy for your little astronauts and all you need are paper plates, washable tempera paint and scissors!!!
To crest your planets:
Step one: Pour different colours of paint together on the bottom middle rounded part of a plate, then using another plate on the same side rub them together until the middle is covered and allow to dry! (To change the texture of the planet you can also sprinkle salt or sand before rubbing the plates together!
Step Two: Once dried, observe the colours and textures of your planet! Then cut to be any size you desire.
Step Three: Add them to a sensory bin or a learning board and enjoy!
