As you may have heard, 2017 marks the 150th "birthday" of Canada as a nation! Scholar's Choice has decided to commemorate this momentous event the only way we know how: by making learning fun with some fun facts about Canada, its Provinces and Territories!

  • Canada has the longest coastline of any country in the world at 243,977km.
  • The longest highway in the world is the Trans-Canada Highway which is over 7604kms long and travels through all 10 provinces.

  • The baseball glove was invented in Canada in 1883.
  • Trivial Pursuit, the Telephone and Basketball were all invented by Canadians.
  • Canada produces 77% of the world's Maple Syrup.
  • Kanata is the St. Lawrence-Iroquoian word for "village" or "settlement".
  • Canada is home to 563 lakes larger than 100 square kilometres!
  • Canada is home to 10% of the world's total forest cover.
  • Studies have found Canadians to be the second happiest people in the world!
